Proudly on my owners chest
By Sophie O'Meara, 2nd year.
From the day I was taken out of the box,
I showed my courteousness.
Also my elegancy,
Proudly on my owners chest
Even when another jewel would stay,
Placed on, on a very important day.
I was always there,
Proudly on my owners chest
Then on that day,
All the native fled.
I was sure I would always stay,
Proudly on my owners chest
Being gushed through seaweed,
A rather strange place, I’d never been before.
Could no longer feel the warmth of being,
Proudly on my owners chest
Next thing I know,
I’m at the bottom.
The bottom of a rather soft bank,
Just kept saying, I’ll be back,
Proudly on my owners chest
Days past,
Weeks past,
Years past,
Not a day went by, I missed being
Proudly on my owners chest
I was drifting away,
No longer having my full set of rubies,
Bright pink, bright pink rubies they were.
That used to always shine,
Proudly on my owners chest
I stayed put,
Waiting and waiting
After time, I got tired.
I finally admitted,
I would no longer,
Have a place,
Proudly on my owners chest
