The 19th Century Cooking Pot
By James Longstaff, 2nd year.
Walking along, in among the remaining walls of an old cottage,
broken and ravaged by time.
From a forgotten era, you sat.
Valuable then,
provider of a warm daily meal to gangly growing giddy children.
Now useless.
Lying half buried in the lifeless hearth,
void of all warmth.
A memorial of lost hopes and lives cut short.
You’re empty soul the blight of those you served.
