Mystery

By Shannon Agar, 2nd Year

Object No. 80 'Captain Rock' threatening letter, 1842
National Library of Ireland

A crumpled brown page,

Slipped under my door,

For what reason,

I did not know.

I thought at first,

A piece of rubbish,

But I’m afraid it was not so,

My eyes opened wide as I stared in shock,

A mysterious letter,

From Captain Rock.

I was so traumatised,

I stumbled and fell,

Why me,

I could not tell.

The days went by,

I still didn’t know,

I wanted to cry,

I had nowhere to go.

All my worrying,

All my anxiety,

There was no need,

As there was no such thing,

As Captain Rock.
