Tara Brooch

Eimear Sharpe, 1st year.

Object No. 29 'Tara' brooch, eighth century
National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology

Things these days go out of fashion easily,

Nobody wears brooches.

Who wouldn’t want the Tara Brooch

Pined beside your collar bone.

It may be made one

Thousand years ago but it does

have use.

We will want it to keep that

chilly winter’s breeze away,

It is very pretty who wouldn’t

Want seventy-six patterns on it.

It is only nine centimetres across,

I don’t understand who wouldn’t

want this beautiful piece of work.
