Decommisioned IRA weapon
Conor Tighe, Transition year.
It was a long time ago now
When hatred was fierce I was young at the time
As I looked up to Padraig Pierce
Although I was proud to rebel
To fight for a cause that was worth fighting for
I never wanted death
And violence to be a part of my life
With the gun I trusted in my hand
I took aim and looked through the sight
And saw that loyalists face
Just like that life is gone
Now that gun that took life still stands strong
Whilst I am withering away
Only now as I look back do I realise how precious life
And how I regret taking something so precious so many times.
