The Viking Slave Chain

By Eva Jane Gorman, 1st Year.

The Viking Slave Chain I slumped up the ramp,

The chains gripping tight,

My clothes were all damp,

I couldn’t try and fight.

No-one to turn to,

Everyone was gone,

As I look at the moon,

I think of my boy John.

I sit alone in my cell,

Hoping one day,

My boy will ring the bell,

And get me out of here by May.

Then one day it came to me,

What I’m going to do,

I’m going to get the key,

So I can be free,

And do what I have to do.

I’m finally out,

I’m finally free,

Finally free to go out and about.

But first things first,

What I’m going to do,

Is find my family.
