Object No. 100 Decomissioned AK47, 2005
National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts and History

My name is Patrick,

I come from County Wicklow in place called Bray.

I moved to Belfast when I heard about the Troubles,

So I could join the IRA.

They gave me an Ak47 and a knife,

They gave me an order to go on a mission.

I was scared for my life,

I could not make a decision.

I walked through the streets,

The next day I had made my choice.

Not to use violence,

But to use my voice.
