Ak47
By Jim Fehily, 2nd year.
Early January,cold and brisk,
I lay coughing on a pillar, after a long trip, Belfast to ring,
I was left drunk with fatigue.
At first just one a distant black dot,
then a whole fleet believe it or not.
I sat and gazed,
at what my eyes could see ten black ships coming, approaching me.
They arrived in the harbour and told to me,
” one of our ships got shot and sank with ease”.
I fell to my knees and asked
“just why? that was the ship of Johnny boy oh boy”.
We filled the van hungry for a Black and Tan,
I have my ak-47 this is nothing like heaven.
I drove and I drove past gardens with grove.
Until I reached Donegal,
hoping to watch the Black and Tans fall.
