THE MEDAL

By RACHEL WHELTON, 2nd Year

This piece of medal I hold in my hand,

is much more that a piece of Silver.

The sweat and tears splashed on it have felt fear;

The person who had this medal worked and worked and never gave up,

even though the chances his hope wasn’t.

The match was big and so was the opponent,

Did it stop them? No!

Did it threaten them? No!

Because this medal was owned by a man,

a man who wasn’t the best but tried his best.

This piece of silver has a history,

this medal has a past and this medal will not be forgotten .
