Titanic Launch Ticket

By Jack O'Donnell, 2nd year

Object No. 89 'Titanic' launch ticket, 1911
Ulster Folk and Transport Museum,

When I got the ticket I was over the moon

I had no idea that disaster could strike so soon

I was going faraway

And I could only pray

That life would kickstart on shores faraway

It would be hard I knew in my heart

But the ship was unsinkable

So I’d be okay.

I saved for a year

As it would be very dear

I had last sight of Ireland

And the place where I hail

Nicknamed the pale.

I heard something below

But it didn’t seem like that big a blow.

I was going back to sleep

But thought I’d have a peep

As there was quite some ruckus on deck

It seemed just a speck,

But there was an iceberg floating away

I jumped on a lifeboat

Lucky to stay alive

Many would die but some would survive,

It would go down in history

But anyone who could tell the story

Would never be the same again.
