A long time ago in Ireland

There wasn’t much work there.

Still isn’t, but since there was not much work,

A lot of people were very poor,

So they emigrated.

Everyone wanted to go to America,

Because it had a lot of work.

So everyone got their belongings and

Went to the boats, usually cargo ships.

Everyone had their own things,

the most common was the emigrant suitcase

and the emigrant teapot.
