May Day Procession

About this custom
This was a procession carrying a statue of the Virgin Mary surrounded by flowers from Our Lady of Lourdes Church down through the streets of Drogheda to St. Peter’s Church on West Street on the night of the 1st of May. Drogheda brass band led the procession followed by the statue carriers and then members of the public. The rain and unseasonably cold weather did not deter the enthusiastic participants!
