The big day out for the whole community. Wedding celebrations were a home event and the reception often took place in the brides family home. In this case it would have been celebrated in my grandparents flat in 196, St Bridget’s Gardens.

The man between the newly weds is my Grandfather Tom O'Shea and his brother John O'Shea is in the back row first left. They are the sons of the brothers from Cahirviveen in Co Kerry. They came to the Dublin Docklands to make a new life.
