Doting mother’s taking part in the Bonny Baby Competition. This was either a summer festival or the community games, which took place over the course of a week. Bonny Baby Competition and Glamorous Granny Competitions were made popular during the era of Butlin’s Holiday Camps. This particular competition was judged by the Lord Mayor of Dublin. There existed in our community a strong sense of maternal pride, evidenced in the Mum’s smiling faces, in presenting ones children to the world and that sense of love and pride in one’s children, continues to this day.
