Schools' Competition Results 2013

Post-Primary Competition: Fashion FlashbackThis year we challenged schools to design and make a fashion piece inspired by the theme of the museum – ‘Life in Rural Ireland’.We were really impressed by all the students who took this theme and gave it their own modern twist. The art rooms of these schools must have been very busy working on their projects. Each entry was full of creativity and innovative ideas were put to the test. However there was no contesting the first prize winning entry a modern dress morphed from a traditional theme designed and made by Aoife Halligan and Niamh Neyret, 2nd year students of Davitt College, Castlebar, Co. Mayo.                                                       Primary Competition: In my grandparent’s time….For this year’s competition we asked school children to find out about life in the past by talking to their grandparents or an elderly person they know. They then had to make a book from their research or submit it online to this website. This competition was a great success with over 140 entries. We were very impressed with all the wonderful entries we received and enjoyed reading them all. Well done to all the pupils in your school for all their hard work.  It is obvious that both grandparents and grandchildren enjoyed spending some time together for this project and getting to know each other better.
