Michael Collins was shot at Beal Na Bath in Cork on August 22nd 1922. He was accorded a military funeral and he was taken from the hospital to Penrose Quay in cork. His body was removed from Cork on the Steamer Classic and transported to the North Inner City Docklands. the Nation was plunged into grief and mourning.
