Ghost Stories of Ireland - Seeking Tales of the Unexplained

This Samhain, we invite you to share ghost stories that have been passed down through oral tradition in your locality. Or, you can choose and submit one of the stories recorded by school children for the Irish Folklore Commission in the 1930s.

Ghost stories and encounters with otherworldly beings are a common theme in Irish folklore. At Hallowe'en, it was believed that the veil between the physical and spiritual realms becomes thinner, allowing spirits to cross over to interact with the living. This is why ghosts and spooky stories are so strongly associated with this time of year.

We are intrigued and want to find out if these stories continue to be told in the 21st century, and what part of Ireland is the spookiest!
