My family (on my mother’s side) hail from Scattery Island on the Shannon. My Uncle, Grandfather, Great Grandfather were Marine Pilots on the Shannon Estuary.
I am following in my family footsteps and am also a Pilot on the Shannon.
My family were all ex seafarers and ships officers. An uncle of mine was lost at sea during WW2, he was on a ship called the Kerry Head which was owned by a Limerick Company called Mullocks.

My Grandfather Sinon McMahon (Shannon Pilot), the young man was Senan Brennan who ended up as a Cork Pilot
Possibly Limerick Leader from years ago, I got it from my mother.
