Our friend Keiron Ginnelly, here in Fremantle Western Australia, spent his early formative years in Dooega, Achill Island. His family emigrated to Western Australia when he was 7 years old. Keiron never lost his connection with his community of origin in Achill. In his twenties he returned for extended visits, where he witnessed and learnt how to build a currach. And on his return to Western Australia, Keiron built his very own currach, adapting it to suit the local climate and seas.
