In 1974, I was on a trip through Ireland with my former school band. After visiting a concert of the folk group PLANXTY in a cinema in Dún Laoghaire we were stopping at Portroe/Lough Derg on the way to Dingle for a few days.
At a session in a pub, the landlady mentioned Jerry Martin, the fiddle builder. He was living close by in Garrykennedy and we visited him at his cottage, where he showed us one of his fiddles and played a tune.
Years later I realized, that he had been a well known person in Ireland and restored my old photographs of the meeting.
