iCAN Information Evening for Tipperary History/Heritage Groups

This year, Tipperary Heritage Office will be partnering with the National Museum of Ireland to bring the Irish Community Archive Network (iCAN) to Tipperary. We would like to invite you to an information session to find out more about this exciting initiative and whether this is something you/ your group may be interested in getting involved with. The aim is to work with a small number of groups initially, with the option of bringing more groups on board subsequently.

About iCAN

The Irish Community Archive Network (iCAN) was established by the National Museum of Ireland in 2009 and currently has 28 members groups located across counties Clare, Cork, Galway, Mayo and Wicklow. Its aim is to encourage and support community groups to collect, preserve and make accessible their local history and heritage online. Groups accepted into the programme will be provided with a fully subsidised Community Archive website and relevant training and up-skilling programmes. Each member group is guided step-by-step as they develop their community archive website to professional standards, while being supported by a network of volunteers and heritage professionals on an ongoing basis. This is a collaborative programme where we all work together for the benefit of our local history and heritage.
