Heritage Trail Stop 9: Mitchells Rosary Bead Factory
Mitchell’s Rosary Bead Factory was previously on the grounds of what is now Larkin Community College’s new all weather pitch. Mitchell’s were a big employer in North Dublin during the 1950s and 1960s.
When the ‘chislers’ started coming into the school, many of the women who were part of the project talked to us about they work they had done with Mitchell’s.
We thought these stories were really interesting and decided to make their memories into one of the films for the project. In this film some of the women remember the sounds, smells and sights of bead making the factory which no longer, no longer exists.
