Michael J. Prendergast

Michael Joseph (Barney) Prendergast was born in Ballyfarnan near Claremorris during 1905. He was educated at the local National school where his mother was a teacher.
Michael Prendergast emigrated to the U.S. during April 1926. He married Elizabeth (Mc Bain) during 1933. They had two sons John and Bernard plus a daughter Elizabeth.
Michael Prendergast was a very successful Restaurant owner in the Metropolitan Area of New York City.
His untimely demise occurred on 29th July 1953. His mother, a brother plus two sisters survived him in Ireland while another sister lived in New York City.
‘He was remembered for his fine and noble qualities of character he possessed. Quietly he daily extended his generosity to the less fortunate of his acquaintances and contributed liberally to many worthy and needy causes.’ [i]
