Meet the Trees of 18th century Headfort Demesne!
Plantings in the demesne are of great botanical significance and include features of great interest and rarity, such as the Arcadian Yew Avenue, the American Garden, Asiatic Trees, as well as one planted in the presence of a recent visit from an Ambassador from China. Original Rhododendron species were introduced by plant hunter George Forrest from Yunnan Provence, South West China.
A ramble with notable landscape gardener Tim Whitley and tree enthusiast who has labelled many of these trees over the years – Meet at the front steps of Headfort House, Kells – Starts at 10:00 a.m. sharp and finishes by 12 noon. – Includes refreshments and learn why we are on the Edge of the Pale!
