Neighbours bring ribbons to tie on May bush below grotto. Kids do Maypole dance, music and tea and buns.

It depends on what day May 1st falls as to how much happens. If its a weekend, the P.P. has come for the Rosary and we can organise the Maypole dance and bagpipes. If it is a Thursday like this year neighbours drop in to the Grotto and Maybush in their own time. I started it because the May Altar had a big impact on me as a child. The kids love collecting the flowers and debate over which colour of the rainbow they will dance with on the May pole. Although we have a Grotto it is more a Summer celebration. It has happened every year since the Grotto was built in 2003
