How I wish I was still in Ireland
By Alanna Duffy Rang 4
I was on my way to Canada in my boyne coracle.
How I wish I was staying in Ireland,
But it seems I can’t.
The famine is going on, that’s why I have to leave.
Oh how I wish I was still in Ireland making a cup of tea.
How I remember my old cooking pot,
Just sitting there by the fire place.
How I loved making porridge,
But that was long ago.
Oh did I mention my teapot,
how I loved making tea.
Making a cup for the family and me.
How I remember those times just sitting there,
With a cup of tea.
And when I got up,
Oh how I loved a bowl of porridge.
I made some for all the family with a cup of tea.
But those days are over
And now it’s just me.
