Yellow Bitterns

By Maries Diez

A stuffed yellow bittern can be seen in the main house. It stares at the visitors, looking brave and proud from its glass cage.

It seems as if the bittern could tell us the story of the Turlough House throughout centuries. Only that this bird is extinct in Ireland. It has been lost as well as some traditions.

This piece shows different bitterns as individuals. Each one tells a story, all of them contribute to the traditional knowledge.
